Tony Vedanta Wilmot Yoga Predator

Tony Vedanta Wilmot

Tony Vedanta Wilmot (SadhanaOm Yoga) is a yoga teacher from Birmingham in the United Kingdom. Tony Vedanta Wilmot has been accused of being a sexual predator by students, using his position to manipulate women. You can red one woman’s story of being sexually exploited and manipulated by him by clicking the link above. Tony Vedanta Wilmot is not a famous ‘Celebrity Guru’. He is generally an unassuming and seemingly sincere professional Yoga teacher. He teaches in small gyms and community halls and struggles to make a living from Yoga. This is all the more scary because he just blends into daily life and is not a ‘tall poppy’ for students or followers to cut down. Never the less, he has been accused of using his position of power, as a Yoga teacher, for his own benefit by manipulating vulnerable female students into sexual acts. He has practiced yoga for over…

Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh (Osho)

It’s alleged he was involved in, or aware of, everything from tax evasion, immigration fraud, prostitution, drug-running, drug use, and he worked his followers to the bone. In India, he was known as the ‘sex guru’, and in the States as the ‘rolls-royce guru’, owning more than 90 at one time. It’s clear that all selves are manifestations of just ONE REALITY, ONE SELF, ONE AWARENESS. Some of these selves or persons beautifully display a garden radiant with wholesome virtues…. While other selves, through some kind of Divine whimsy, display lovely flowers mixed in with lots of weeds! Yet everyone is, at heart, quite innocent, utterly Divine. What an amazing dream, this wild, wacky, woeful yet wonderful life…. In the late 1980s, India’s so-called “Bhagwan” or “Blessed One” Rajneesh (née Rajneesh Mohan Chandra Jain, 1931-1990), back once again at his old ashram in Poona, India, tried to make himself and…

Dr. Kausthub Desikachar

The Krishnamacharya Healing and Yoga Foundation made a public statement on September 22, 2012 regarding allegations were made by four teacher trainees, saying: …we’ve been made aware of the varying allegations of sexual, mental and emotional abuse against Dr. Kausthub Desikachar. Upholding this tradition and approach in the field of Yoga and Therapy, the Krishnamachraya Healing and Yoga Foundation are taking these allegations very seriously. Seven months later, Kausthub was back with a new website, and a letter explaining his new beginning: I realise that some of the decisions that I have made in the past have not been consistent with the high standards that I usually set for myself. I also fully understand and acknowledge that these have had far reaching effects, way beyond myself. There is no way of changing this past. I wholeheartedly repent for what has happened. An update to the latest scandal and sad disappointment…

Spotting a Yoga Predator

Why is this such a big problem in the land of awareness? We assume that people, in particular yoga teachers, are somehow different than the rest of the population; conscientious, open and honest, and perhaps infallible because they “practice” yoga. But people are people no matter where you find them, with all the foibles, beauties and deceits that come with being human. I’m surprised when an intelligent individual intones “but s/he teaches yoga . . . ” as if being a yoga teacher and being a predator are mutually exclusive endeavors. They may be in your head, but not in a predator’s, and the understandable tendency to think everyone is “just like me” makes you a potential target for predatory mischief. There are hundreds of examples of such people teaching Yoga in daily life in every country. An example that comes to mind is Tony Vedanta Wilmot (a Yoga teacher…

Predator Spiritual Behaviour

Specifically one who is dressed in the garb of a guru, religious leader, or activist. It surprises me not an iota that a sexual predator would become a prominent new-age guru. The guru-student relationship is fertile land for sexual misbehavior to flourish in. There are too many guru sexual predators to list. They’re not just gurus. There are also mystics, sensitive new age guys, extremely “spiritual” people who are actually lowlifes, and activists/idealists who are in it for the booty. There are certain things they do; certain men they are. Look out for: The Spiritual Man Who Thinks You’re Special: You are a light in the darkness to him. He is your teacher, and he sees so much brilliance and potential in you. You are what he needs, and he is what you need – spiritually, of course. Or he wants to personally help you. You, more than anyone, are worth his precious spiritual energy…

My Studio Invited a Sexual Predator

The author of the following article has requested to remain anonymous. This is her story. In recent decades there’s been a dark cloud hanging over the yoga community as many high-profiled sexual abuse cases involving yoga teachers against students have been brought to the public eye. The thought that one of those alleged perpetrators was coming to my studio made me feel sick to my stomach. I could not move. I was frozen in fear. Yoga has always been where I’d gone to feel safe. My safe space was no longer safe. I’ve practiced yoga for over two decades, but it wasn’t until I was severely beaten and later raped that I discovered the healing power of yoga. Yoga helped me with the physical and emotional injuries of my rape. Yoga helped me grow as a person. I credit yoga for helping me evolve from victim to survivor to thriver….
